What is GTE / Genuine Student (GS) requirement?

The Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) concept — an assessment that the applicant genuinely intends to stay in Australia temporarily for study — has been updated. The Department of Home Affairs replaced GTE with a Genuine Student (GS) requirement for visa applications lodged on or after 23 March 2024. It still assesses intent, study plans, ties to home country, prior education/employment and immigration history.
